Memorial House
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County · Utah
Erected by NA
Before this was a park, an asphalt contractor named P.J. Moran ran his plant at the mouth of the canyon, and his horses were stabled in this building. When the land became Memory Grove, the old stable was spared and given new work—rededicated in 1926 as Memorial House, a place for the gatherings the grove's purpose seemed to call for. It still does that job: weddings, receptions, memorials. A horse barn turned hall of remembrance, which is a fairly Utah way for a building to age.
