Army 145th Field Artillery Monument
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County · Utah
When the United States entered the First World War, Utah sent an artillery regiment: the 145th Field Artillery, the First Utah, drawn largely from the state's own National Guard. This monument was raised by the men who came home to the memory of those who did not — its Latin motto, Pro Deo, pro patria, "for God, for country." It stands among the war memorials of Salt Lake City as Utah's tribute to the gunners of the Great War, and to the price the state paid in it.
