Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park
Bluffdale, Salt Lake County · Utah
South of Camp Williams, where the valley runs out toward the Point of the Mountain, the state set aside ground in 1990 for the people who served it. The Utah Veterans Cemetery is a working burial ground — veterans, their spouses, their children — but it is also a gathering of memorials, the ones that don't fit a single grave: to submariners lost at sea, to the Medal of Honor recipients, to the war dogs, to the merchant mariners. Row on row of identical white markers make their own argument about who is owed remembrance, and how equally.
