Site of Orleans Hotel

Sacramento, Sacramento County · California

Maria Hastings had this hotel shipped to her. The materials came out of New Orleans in 1852 and went up here as the Orleans, which is a considerable thing for a woman to have owned and outfitted in a city two years old. It worked as much as a stage depot as a hotel, the companies running their departures out of the lobby. The building is apartments now. The landmark has never had a plaque of any kind.
