Broom Factory and Wagon Train terminal
West Jordan, Salt Lake County · Utah
Erected, 2011
The west side didn't just farm — it supplied. From this corner, George Matthew Webster ran a broom factory through the 1890s, binding stalks of broomcorn into the household tool every home needed. And from the same spot, Aaron Beckstead's wagon train hauled freight up to Bingham Canyon, where the mining camps in the Oquirrhs would pay for anything the farms and shops could send. Brooms one way, ore-camp supplies the other — a quiet little commerce hub feeding the boom across the valley. The factory and the freighters are long gone; the marker holds the corner.
