Sylvanus Cyrus Hulet
Summit, Iron County · Utah
Erected by NA
His life ran nearly the whole length of his church's history. Sylvanus Cyrus Hulet was baptized in 1831, only a year after the Latter-day Saint church was founded, came west to Utah in 1850, and helped settle Springville. In 1861 he was called south to the Dixie Mission, and in 1872 he moved to Summit, here in Iron County. Like many men of his era and faith he kept a plural family — children by Catherine Stoker, Eliza Miller, and Elizabeth Dalley, more than twenty in all. This monument, raised by descendants, sets that long life down in stone.
