Smithfield Veterans Memorial
Smithfield, Cache County · Utah
Erected, 2016
Smithfield's veterans memorial is the newest kind of remembrance: a Scout project. Jon Cheatham of Team 309 organized it as his Eagle Scout service work, and the town dedicated it in November 2016. The front face carries Lincoln — honor to the soldier and sailor, and honor also to the citizen who serves the same cause at home. The back answers in the vernacular of veterans' halls everywhere: all gave some, some gave all. A century and a half of Smithfield service, held up by a teenager who did the organizing.
