James Hendericks Memorial
Richmond, Cache County · Utah
Erected by NA
James Hendricks came to Cache Valley already broken, and built anyway. Shot at the Battle of Crooked River in Missouri in 1838, he lived the rest of his life an invalid — yet served as one of Salt Lake City's first bishops before bringing his family north to young Richmond. His son William D., a Mormon Battalion veteran, ran the sawmill that cut the settlement's building timber and later led a stake reaching deep into Idaho; his home stood where the city building stands today. James died in 1870 and lies with his family in the town cemetery.
