Richmond, Little River County · Arkansas
Erected 2012
Richmond was thriving by 1854, and in 1880 it won the Little River County seat. Its citizens built a courthouse on land deeded on the condition that the town stay the seat, and when that building burned they built another at no cost to the county. The seat left for Foreman in 1902, the depot town that grew beside the railroad's 1895 line a mile from old Rocky Comfort. The preacher named here, Lewis W. Davis, was also a lawyer and county judge, and his son Jeff became governor in 1901.
