Old Pleasant Grove Fort Northwest Corner
Pleasant Grove, Utah County · Utah
Erected by NA
Nothing is left of the old fort but four stones, and this is one of them. When the wall came down and the town grew over its footprint, local historians set a marker at each vanished corner — northeast, northwest, southeast — so the outline could still be read. This is the northwest. Between these points once stood a defensive square thrown up during the Walker War of 1853, its outer wall barely chest-high, more a rallying line than real protection: the families meant to gather inside and stand together if trouble came. It never seriously did.
