Friday's Station-Overland Pony Express Route in California

South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County · California

California registered a landmark here and never put a plaque on it. What stands is private: a bronze Pony Express rider and a stone Harrah's dedicated on April 4, 1963, a few hundred feet inside Nevada. Two independent registers agree there is no state plaque on the California side. The riders crossed the line at this point on their way to Friday's, which the plaque places four-tenths of a mile northeast at Edgewood and the state's own text puts three-quarters of a mile east.
