Cache Co. Relic Hall
Logan, Cache County · Utah
Erected by DUP, 1935
This sturdy stone building has been three things. Hezekiah Thatcher raised it in 1861 as a barn — livestock stabled below, hay and carriages above — from rock his crew quarried up Green Canyon, roofed with handmade shingles. Later it served as a schoolhouse for Brigham Young College; and when that school closed in 1926, the church gave the old building over to the Cache County Daughters of Utah Pioneers, who made it their relic hall. Barn, schoolhouse, museum — it has sheltered the valley's animals, its children, and its memory in turn.
