Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos Memorial
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County · Utah
The naming here is deliberate: Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The war Americans call "Vietnam" spilled across all three countries, and the men who fought and died in the bombing of Cambodia and Laos were long left out of the official story. This memorial restores them to it, honoring Utahns who served across that whole theater. It belongs to the harder, later wave of Vietnam remembrance — the kind that came once the country was willing to look squarely at a war it had spent years trying not to think about.
