Site of Hudson Cabin, Calistoga

Nothing is cast at the site of David Hudson's cabin, the second of the two raised at the hot springs in October 1845 by York and his brother-in-law. The corner has long been a service station; NoeHill found no plaque here in 2004 and was told the station had been rebuilt. Hudson's next house survives, seven miles down the valley on the Beringer estate. The brothers found it standing when they bought the land in 1875, and in 1883 had it lifted onto logs and pulled two hundred feet by horses to clear the ground for the Rhine House.
