Lugo Adobe (Site of)
Los Angeles, Los Angeles County · California
Vicente Lugo's house stood on the east side of the plaza and had two storeys, which almost nothing in the pueblo did. He gave it to St. Vincent's School in 1867 — the first college in Southern California and the seed of Loyola Marymount — and the school outgrew it in two years. It became a hotel, then a curio store, then part of Old Chinatown. The state made it a landmark in 1939 and the wreckers took it in 1951 anyway. The park on the site was renamed for Yaanga in 2023.
