Inyan Kara Methodist Episcopal Church
Sundance, Crook County · Wyoming
Erected by Historical Landmark Commission of Wyoming, 1952
The pastor this stone credits was Olin B. Chassell, an 1888 graduate of the Iowa State Normal School at Cedar Falls, who came west with his wife, Ella Buckingham Chassell, also of that school. Its student paper followed them: illness held up the start of their work at Sundance, and in February 1892 he passed through Cedar Falls on his way back to Wyoming, still not ready to take up his duties. They later returned to Iowa, where the couple edited The Iowa Methodist and Ella stood for county superintendent of schools in Hardin County.
