Casa de Bandini

Juan Bandini built this in 1829 and it became the place where the pueblo's business got done, which is why Commodore Stockton borrowed it for a headquarters. The message that Kearny's men were pinned down at San Pasqual reached Stockton in this house on December 9, 1846. Bandini sold it in 1859 after his money ran out. Albert Seeley added a second story in 1869 and made it a stage hotel. No state plaque stands here. The private panel in the courtyard ends with a hotel reopening in July 2010.
