Casa Blanca

Floresville, Wilson County · Texas
Erected 1936

Casa Blanca was a large white stone house on a rise above the San Antonio River, and for decades travelers between the coast and San Antonio steered by it. Teamsters, German immigrants and Stephen F. Austin were guests of Erasmo Seguín, who was known for his hospitality. During the Revolution he moved his family east, then supplied the Texas army from the ranch's cattle and crops. He died here on November 7, 1857. A windstorm toppled the crumbling walls in 1942, and the family graves were already lost by 1913. Only a pile of stones remains, on private land.
