Bradley County Court House
Warren, Bradley County · Arkansas
Erected 1936
Two stories explain the name Warren. Family tradition says the town was named for Warren Bradley, an enslaved man owned by Hugh Bradley, at whose house the first circuit court met on April 26, 1841. The Encyclopedia of Arkansas says a time capsule found in the courthouse in 2015 reportedly confirmed that, yet it also says there is sufficient evidence that the town honors Edward Allen Warren, Bradley's friend, a Camden lawyer who became a congressman. John Harvie Marks gave thirty acres and John Splawn ten for the townsite, and Warren was incorporated on December 26, 1850.
