War Against Terrorism
Midway, Wasatch County · Utah
This plaque marks the newest names on Midway's Memorial Hill, a spiral-road bluff above the Heber Valley crowned with flags and the bronze boots-and-rifle of a fallen-soldier cross. Completed in 1927, the memorial etches roughly 2,400 Wasatch County residents onto black basalt tablets, ordered by conflict from the War of 1812 to the present. Vandals once stole the original name plaques; Dr. Raymond Green spent some twenty years reassembling the roster. Names are still added each Memorial Day, so the county's list of service has no fixed end.
