Texas Trail

Goshen County · Wyoming
Erected by Historical Landmark Commission of Wyoming, 1941

The plaque dates the drives here from 1876, ten years after the 1866 on the state's Lingle stone, and the gap is the route. This branch came up from Pine Bluffs through Albin, LaGrange and Lusk toward the Montana ranges, into country the 1868 treaty had kept free of white settlement until the war of 1876 and the 1877 act. A small plate on the base credits the LaGrange community and the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, which grew out of five cattlemen meeting in a Cheyenne livery stable in 1872 over rustling.
