St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
Liberty, Liberty County · Texas
Erected 1977
The church began as All Faith Church, admitted to the Diocese of Texas in 1852 with no pastor and no building. Construction of the wooden building started the week of April 8, 1898, with J. T. Firth as contractor, after members raised money with lawn parties, a Japanese tea and a joint dinner with Methodist women that served 150 people at 25 cents a plate. Bishop Kinsolving consecrated it as the Church of the Intercession on May 28, 1899. In 1995 it was moved to the Sam Houston Regional Library grounds as a museum.
