Historical Marker
Robert Price
Round Mountain, Blanco County · Texas
Erected 1936
Round Mountain, where Price is buried, grew around Joseph Bird's log house of 1854. The post office of 1857 was the second in Blanco County, and the town became a stage stop on the mail route between Austin and Fredericksburg. In 1871 residents chartered an academy that at one time had 200 students, and the town's elevation earned it a name as a health resort. It had 400 people by 1896 but declined after 1900, and in 1931 its school was consolidated with Johnson City's. The Round Mountain Stagecoach Inn and Stable of 1874 is in the National Register.
