Pike County Court House
Murfreesboro, Pike County · Arkansas
Erected 1936
Murfreesboro has had four courthouses on or near its square. The first, a log building with the clerk's office, burned in 1855 and took the county's records with it. A replacement ordered in 1856 burned in 1895, and the records went again. A brick courthouse followed in 1897 and stood until 1933. The present one, an Art Deco building by the Texarkana firm Witt, Seibert and Halsey, is a near twin of the Sevier County courthouse in De Queen and the only major Art Deco building in the county. The National Register listed it on October 16, 1986.
