Frank Mulder Gossett
Crockett, Houston County · Texas
Erected 1982
The Handbook of Texas dates the Sons of the Republic of Texas to April 1893 at Richmond, founded by sons and grandsons of Texas Revolution veterans. It was reactivated in Houston in March 1922 by Odin M. Kendall; Andrew Jackson Houston was elected president and the first year's membership was thirty-five. The society incorporated in October 1934, and in 1936, with help from Jesse H. Jones, it was influential in securing funds for the San Jacinto Monument. It also helped found the San Jacinto Museum of History. Gossett's marker names 1922 as the year he helped found it.
