Eureka Train Station
Eureka, Juab County · Utah
Erected by NA
Before the rails came, Tintic's silver had to leave by wagon, which meant only the richest ore paid to dig. That changed when two railroads raced in to compete for the traffic — the Union Pacific's line reached Eureka in 1889, the Rio Grande's in 1891 — and suddenly even middling mines could ship at a profit. The depot became the district's front door, moving ore out and everything else in. The building still stands, holding the Tintic Mining Museum, where the whole district is laid out mine by mine.
