Buck's Lake

The Feather River Power Company bought Bucks Ranch in 1926 for its reservoir, and the hotel burned on January 13, 1928, the year the dam was finished; either way it was done. Horace Bucklin and Francis Walker had started the ranch in 1850, and it grew into a hotel, stage station and express office where the pack trains divided for the Feather River camps. The 1931 bronze, set in the rocks behind the marina, puts the original site a hundred yards northeast. That is out in the lake. Buck was Bucklin's nickname.
