Site of Plumas House
Quincy, Plumas County · California
Quincy's social and business life ran through this corner, the register says, for more than thirty years. James and Jane Edwards built the second Plumas House here in 1866, on the site of the first, and it stood until it burned to the ground on June 23, 1923. Nothing of it remains and no plaque names it. The corner of Main and Court now holds the Plumas County Veterans Memorial, dedicated in 2006, a different subject, whose tablets carry the names of the county's war dead.
