Blue Star Memorial Highway - Fillmore
Fillmore, Millard County · Utah
Erected, 1967
After the World Wars, the country's garden clubs hit on an unusual kind of monument: not a statue but a road. They planted trees and set markers like this one along thousands of highway miles, turning ordinary drives into rolling tributes to everyone who served. This Blue Star marker went up in 1967 on the old highway through Fillmore — the same route that once carried the territory's traffic to its first capital. The memorial isn't a place you stop so much as a place you pass, which is rather the point.
