William Clark, Jr.

Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County · Texas
Erected 1936

Sources disagree about the name on this grave. Wikipedia's William Clark Jr. was born April 14, 1798, moved from Georgia to Sabine County in 1835, kept a store there and briefly represented the county in the Second Congress. A Texas history blog says the signer was William S. Clark, with a son, William Clark Jr., elected to the legislature in 1859 and the 1861 secession convention, and that the two are sometimes confused. Both give his death as January 3, 1871. He signed the Declaration of Independence for the Sabine delegation.
