Haden Edwards
Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County · Texas
Erected 1936
Haden Edwards came back to Texas during the Revolution and made his home in Nacogdoches. In 1837 he became the first worshipful master of Milam Lodge No. 2. The Handbook of Texas says he stayed active in the land business until his death on August 14, 1849. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, which Texas Escapes says sits on his own 1826 grant. In October 1826 authorities had revoked his grant after complaints, though he had invested more than $50,000 in it.
