Sharp County Court House
Hardy, Sharp County · Arkansas
Erected 1936
Sharp County has two rivers and long had two courthouses, after a dispute over where a single one should stand. The first went up at Evening Shade in 1870, and after the courthouse burned in 1879, county offices rented space. In 1894 the county was divided into two districts, with a second courthouse at Hardy for the north. Evening Shade kept its role as a seat until 1963, when the county consolidated at Ash Flat, where a community center housed court rooms. A 2003 annex there added a courtroom and offices for the judge, prosecutor and sheriff.
