Prince-Garibardi Building

Most landmark bronzes claim something. This one says the building is still used for living and warehouse purposes, which is the plainest sentence cast on any plaque in the county. It went up in 1852 for a general merchandise business and gained living quarters upstairs in 1857. Its billiard room is where the dance was held that paid for the Altaville school, so a warehouse financed a landmark. The two bronzes disagree about the man: this one casts B. R. Prince, the school casts N.R. Prince.

PRINCE-GARIBARDI BUILDING THIS STRUCTURE WAS ERECTED IN 1852 BY B. R. PRINCE AND G. GARIBARDI FOR A GENERAL MERCHANDISE BUSINESS. IMPROVED IN 1857 WITH LIVING QUARTERS ON THE SECOND FLOOR, IT IS STILL USED FOR LIVING AND WAREHOUSE PURPOSES. CALIFORNIA REGISTERED HISTORICAL LANDMARK NO. 735 PLAQUE PLACED BY THE CALIFORNIA STATE PARK COMMISSION IN COOPERATION WITH PRINCESS PARLOR NO. 84, NATIVE DAUGHTERS OF THE GOLDEN WEST, JULY 31, 1960.
