Mrs. Lucy Haggard Longbotham
Wortham, Freestone County · Texas
Erected 1972
Her husband has the Handbook of Texas entry, and she appears in it only in outline. Lucy and Robert Longbotham were members of the Primitive Baptist Church, and they had nine children. The entry says she died at the age of eighty, and Robert then married Louisa Harnes. He was buried in this Longbotham Cemetery, where he now has his own marker. The plaque says Lucy lived under nine flags; the Handbook says nothing of that, and no source reached counts them, so the number rests on the plaque.
