Moore's (Riverton)-Overland Pony Express Route in California

Everything east of here was the hard part. Moore's was the first remount station above Sportsman's Hall, which made it the point where the route left the foothills and began climbing in earnest toward Echo Summit. It had been a change station of the Pioneer Stage Company through the 1850s, and it went on being one afterwards. The plaque is spare and says nothing at all about the country it stands in, which does most of the explaining by itself.

Moore's (Riverton) This was the site of a change station of the Pioneer Stage Company in the 1850's and 1860's. During 1860-1861, the Central Overland Pony Express maintained here the first pony remount station east of Sportsman's Hall.
