Mission Beach Roller Coaster (Giant Dipper)

Three bronzes hang at the entrance and not one of them is the state's. The coaster closed in December 1976, was scheduled for demolition in 1979, and burned twice at the hands of arsonists in 1981. It had gone on the National Register in 1978; a committee formed in 1981, took ownership the next year, and got it named a National Historic Landmark in 1987. It reopened in August 1990. The listings are the reason it stands, which is why these plaques are here and the state's is not.
