Mark Twain Cabin

The bronze says here on Jackass Hill, and above the title it says one mile, with an arrow. It is a road sign, and there is an identical one four tenths of a mile down Highway 49. What it points at is a replica: only the chimney and fireplace are original. Clemens stayed with the Gillis brothers through the winter of 1864 and 1865, and the state credits that stay with the jumping frog story, which he actually heard in a saloon in the next county.
