Keep Watching The Skies!
Silver Bow County · Montana
The title is a movie line, and the movie came first. The Thing from Another World opened on April 7, 1951, the year before Operation Skywatch began, and closes with a newspaperman, Ned Scott, played by Douglas Spencer, radioing his story from the Arctic with a warning for the world: watch the skies, keep looking, keep watching the skies. His threat came from another planet, not the Soviet Union, and the line has been read ever since as carrying both the flying-saucer scares and the Red Scare of its day.
