Henry B. Joy Monument
Albany County · Wyoming
Erected 1938
Henry Joy, president of the Packard Motor Car Company and the Lincoln Highway Association's first president, told his family he wanted to be buried at the spot in Wyoming's Great Divide Basin where he had seen the most beautiful sunset of his life. They set this monument there instead, beside the old highway west of Rawlins, in 1938. Out there it drew vandals, and in 2001 it was moved about 140 miles east to the Summit rest area, fenced and ringed with four replica Lincoln Highway road markers.
