Hassayampa Inn
Prescott, Yavapai County County · Arizona
After a decade of planning, Prescott's business leaders raised the money for a modern hotel to catch the growing tide of auto tourists, and broke ground in 1927 on the site of the old Conner Hotel, which had burned in 1923. The El Paso firm of Trost and Trost, working with local architect Chris Totten, designed the Hassayampa Inn in a warm Mission and Spanish Revival style, and the Ramey Brothers built it. It opened that November as Prescott's first community-financed hotel and still takes guests beneath its painted lobby ceiling and neon roof sign.
What the plaque says
