Gordon Square
Lafayette, Lafayette County · Louisiana
George Knapp built the Gordon Hotel in 1904, from designs by the architects Favrot and Livaudais: three stories of brick and stucco in the Renaissance Revival style. A 1928 remodel supervised by William T. Nolan added a fourth story in Baroque style, an undulating roof and a corner obelisk, along with a three-story addition on the east side. The building stands at 100 to 110 East Vermilion Street and went onto the National Register on June 25, 1982, a year before the area was rededicated as Gordon Square.
