Frank Neal Drane
Corsicana, Navarro County · Texas
Erected 1978
Drane's foundation was built around matching grants. A Navarro County biography says the Navarro Community Foundation began on May 28, 1938 as an unincorporated public charitable trust with about $800,000 pledged, for six purposes: religion, education, relief of suffering and disease, public buildings, aid to the worthy poor, and science. It gave roughly $4 million from 1938 through 1976. The same biography says Drane helped form the Texas Electric Railway, an interurban linking Corsicana, Dallas and Waco, and ran Arcady Farms, a 200-acre dairy estate.
