Don Fernando Pacheco Adobe

Concord, Contra Costa County · California
Erected by Contra Costa Horsemans Association, 1941

Three plaques and a federal nomination give this adobe four birthdates: 1843 on the state bronze, 1844 on the horsemen's plaque by the door, 1844 to 1851 on the city's, and 1845 to 1855 in the National Register file. Salvio Pacheco sent his son Fernando at seventeen to take possession of the family rancho, and the family kept the house until about 1919. Abandoned, it was rebuilt as a clubhouse by the Contra Costa Horsemen's Association in 1941. The state bronze, a quarter mile south at Grant and Solano Way, was photographed in 2006 and gone by 2014.
