Art Alley
Monroe, Ouachita County · Louisiana
Edmund Williamson's art is scattered on both sides of the river. The multimedia artist, who died in 2009, opened a gallery called Lost Bazaar in a long-unused alley on North 2nd Street, and the alley became Art Alley in 2010, after his death. The Monroe-West Monroe visitors bureau credits him with starting downtown's arts revival. His large public pieces include Maypop in Palace Park, Trenton Flowers in West Monroe's Antique Alley, Tomato Worm at the West Monroe Community Center and Great Blue Heron at Restoration Park.
