Historical Marker
William Calvert Hallmark
Houston County · Texas
Erected 1936
William Calvert Hallmark is named among the heirs in his father George Hallmark's will of 1848, which Aldrich's county history prints from the deed records. Aldrich says the Centennial Commission put this marker at his grave in the old Bynum graveyard near Shiloh. His own will left Shiloh church three acres of land, including the house of worship. His name and his brother Alfred's are engraved on the tablet of the San Jacinto Monument, and both appear in the Centennial Commission's list of veterans. George lived on Mustang Prairie, where a small creek carries his name.
