War Memorial Golf Course Formerly Called Fair Park Golf Course
Little Rock, Pulaski County · Arkansas
Erected 2023
Little Rock's first municipal golf course was planned beginning in 1924 inside what was then called Fair Park, and it was completed by 1937. During the Depression it was the only public golf venue in the city. WPA crews built the clubhouse, a gazebo, a rest area and stone pillars between 1933 and 1937, and a metal gate lettered W M GOLF was added after the course was renamed in 1948. Covering about 90 acres of the 200-acre War Memorial Park, it closed in July 2019 and was listed on the National Register on September 16, 2020.
