Historical Marker · No. 282
Twin Springs
Oneida County · Idaho
This was the water the cutoff was planned around. In 1859 the Army surveyor William H. Wagner measured the dry stretch east of here at twenty-two and a quarter miles, the country the sign says parties crossed late into the night. Twin Springs, between today's Rockland and Holbrook, was one of the few reliable sources on Hudspeth's road. The panel is an older generation than most along these highways, faded, its last lines behind sagebrush when it was photographed, and its full wording has not been recorded.
