Springerville Schoolhouse
Springerville — 26, Apache County County · Arizona
Erected by Round Valley Positive Action Tourism Committee and Springerville-Eagar Chamber of Commerce
Round Valley's children learned their letters in this two-room adobe, its bell tower calling them in from the surrounding ranch country until 1950. Raised in Springerville's early decades and enlarged in brick in 1927 and again at mid-century, the schoolhouse anchored a Mormon-pioneer farming settlement tucked against the White Mountains. Its high-pitched roof and bell tower still mark the town's civic heart, a plain frontier building that schooled generations of Springerville and Eagar families before classes finally moved on.
