Santa Margarita Asistencia (Site of)

Nothing cast marks this one. The asistencia was Mission San Luis Obispo's inland outpost, a chapel and storehouse where, the register says, the mission padres and the Indians carried on extensive grain cultivation. Its walls were later roofed over as a hay barn and stand on Santa Margarita Ranch, private ground with no public access. The state's own register files the landmark under San Mateo County, several hundred kilometres north of the building it is describing.
