Ree Heights Roadside Park

Hand County · South Dakota
Erected by T. J., H. A., and Joe Poindexter and State Highway Commission

The last brand this bronze names belongs to the men who paid for it. Its foot line credits T. J., H. A. and Joe Poindexter, and its text closes on the P Arrow of Joe Poindexter, one of the latest brands in the area. The town's name carries a people the bronze never mentions: Ree is the traders' shortening of Arikara, the Sahnish, whose earth-lodge towns stood along the Missouri. The reverse is a brand-reading primer of the kind cast on the Murdo and Pierre markers.
